Biographical

With nearly four decades of legal and judicial experience, Catherine M. Stone brings a seasoned and realistic view to legal issues. Board certified by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization in civil appellate law, Catherine served as a justice on the Fourth Court of Appeals for nearly 21 years. Appointed to that Court in 1994 by the late Governor Ann Richards, Catherine was thereafter elected in 2008 as Chief Justice of the Court. During her tenure on the Court she wrote thousands of legal opinions, and under her leadership as Chief Justice, the Fourth Court of Appeals was widely recognized as an efficient and innovative court. Catherine was also elected by her fellow Chief Justices to serve a two-year term as the Chief of the Texas Council of Chief Justices.

After retiring from her judicial career in 2014, Catherine joined Langley & Banack, where she leads the Appellate Practice Group and the Alternative Dispute Resolution Practice Group. Catherine offers full appellate services, including appellate and trial briefing and strategy, oral arguments, brief editing and review. Catherine also maintains a full ADR docket and her decades of judicial service provide valuable insight to litigants and counsel in mediation and arbitration settings. Catherine offers a complete range of mediation and arbitration services throughout Texas.
