Biographical
Senior District Judge Stephen Yelenosky was the judge of the 345th District Court of the State of Texas. After 12 years on the bench, and two re-elections without opposition, he chose not to run for a fourth term. Judge Yelenosky presided over all types of civil disputes. He has particular expertise as a judge, a lawyer, and mediator in employment matters, including discrimination, sexual harassment, and the ADA. In addition, all matters involving governmental entities are within the exclusive jurisdiction of the Travis County District Courts, where Judge Yelenosky presided. Governmental cases included statutory construction, state agency rules and decisions, state civil enforcement of all regulatory matters, and injunctive relief brought by and against governmental entities and officials.
At times during his tenure on the bench, Judge Yelenosky was appointed by the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court of Texas to sit as a justice of a court of appeals in place of a recused judge. In 1993, the Texas Supreme Court appointed him to its Supreme Court Advisory Committee also known as the Court’s “rules committee,” and he continues to serve on the committee at the pleasure of the Supreme Court. The Committee of judges and lawyers is charged with considering and drafting all changes to the Texas Rules of Civil Procedure. Judge Yelenosky has been invited to speak at innumerable legal education seminars on many topics. He is also a member of the editorial board of "The Advocate," a quarterly symposium of legal articles published by the State Bar's Litigation Section. Judge Yelenosky now serves as a mediator, arbitrator, special judge, special master, and litigation consultant. He also returns to the bench a few days each month as a Visiting Judge.
