Biographical

With over 38 years of legal experience, attorney * mediator * arbitrator Susan G. Perin provides mediation and arbitration services across the state of Texas and in other states. After graduating cum laude from Newcomb College of Tulane University with a B.A. in 1971, Ms. Perin attended South Texas College of Law, receiving her J.D. in 1980. There she graduated summa cum laude and first in her class.

Licensed in November of 1980, Ms. Perin began her career as a briefing attorney for the Court of Appeals, Fourteenth Supreme Judicial District in Houston, Texas. In 1981, she began a litigation practice representing plaintiffs and defendants as a lawyer with the office of Foreman & Dyess and with the office of Hirsch & Westheimer. Ms. Perin then established her own firm in Houston, and handled a litigation docket while also conducting mediations, arbitrations, and complex cases.

Susan G. Perin continues to conduct business from her own firm, which is now solely devoted to a full-time alternative dispute resolution practice. She acts as a mediator and arbitrator in a wide range of mediation and arbitration matters, from business and employment law to personal injury and construction cases. She has handled over 2,000 mediations and over 250 arbitrations.

Ms. Perin has experience serving as an instructor and trainer in several capacities. She was an adjunct professor from 1997 to 2003 at the University of Houston Law Center teaching the many different aspects of mediation to law students. Also, Ms. Perin was a member of the faculty of Attorney-Mediators Institute from 1993 to 1998, and trained over 800 attorney-mediators through that program. Finally, Susan G. Perin held an instructor position at the Association of Attorney-Mediators in 1996, 1998, and 1999, conducting advanced mediation training, and she continues to be a frequent speaker on dispute resolution topics.
